    Gray was a solid contender, but not "A list" material. Reliable for a good effort but always seemed to hit a wall against top opposition.

      solid contender who managed to either go the distance or last a good number of rounds against a young hit man hearns when as u know hearns was flattening every one inside 3

          Good fighter but not great,,, think a ray mercer type career,, tough dude, big fights, but just was one step away from being elite or great

            My friend turned down a fight with Gray. He had had 2 or 3 pro fights at the time and did not feel he was experienced enough. I think that, subsequently, he sparred with him.

              grey was crafty and had some tricks, wasn't a puncher or a strong guy at 147 though

                I just spoke to my friend and I was mistaken. The fighter he turned down was Adolph Pruitt

                  To clarify,, i didnt mean to say he fights like mercer,,, just that like mercer he was good, but could never get over the hump to superstardom
