Not to high on your own opinions are you calling me a ****** is like bashing yourself because I have not only read a lot of your posts but agree with them I would much rather watch fly weights Bantam weights feather weights and light weights than a bunch of fat slobs duke it out as heavies for sure and I don't know how anyone can pick a GOAT of any weightclass the best I can give you would be the greatest of any given era and weightclass and even that is tough to judge

Ali's speed, footwork and movement is on a different level than Holmes. His footwork was phenomenal. His ring IQ was great. The few things Larry DOES do better would be the fact that he hits harder, his jab might be harder, and that he goes to the body. Besides that, I don't think he really is better than Ali.

Just look at their resumes. Yeah, ok, Holmes beat his fair share of fighters (Berbick, Shavers, Norton, Cooney, etc) but in my opinion he lost to Witherspoon and he clearly got outboxed by Carl Williams. Holmes likes to bÎtch about how he should have won against Spinks but he got 2 gifts right there. He's lucky he kept his title against those 2 men.

Now look at Ali's resume. He's beat Foreman, Liston, Shavers, Frazier, Norton (a better version of Norton than Holmes beat) Cooper, Lyle, etc. Some people might try to argue he lost to Young and Norton the third time, but he did beat Norton in my view. The Young fight is so bad that it should just be discarded considering how faded Ali was.

The point is, prime for prime you have to consider Ali to be the better fighter and greater technician. Even comparing their wins, it's not even close.
I saw the Holmes Vs Witherspoon live on tv, I had no doubt that Tim gave Larry a proper pasting and I still have no doubt that it was robbery, on that night Witherspoon fought the fight of his life and I never saw him fight better than that, he constantly beat Larry to the punch, had greater energy and he won in my opinion. That is not to say that Holmes was rubbish, he was just outpunched and outscored, there was something fishy going on at the judges table, suddenly the name Don King comes to mind.

The only discussions i've seen you participate in is about heavyweights. But if you really like the lighter divisions, why don't you discuss them?

Holmes is abit more technically sound then Ali but what made Ali better was his intangibles. His chin was great and could fight a variety of ways. His durability was the only thing that got him past Smokin Joe the last two times after Joe whipped his ass.

Fraizer would have gave Holmes the ass whooping of a life time.

I agree, I think Frazier was pretty unlucky to have been at his prime in the time of Ali and Foreman and I reckon the 80's would have seen Joe rule, all this talk of Foreman vs Holmes, what about Holmes vs Frazier, I see Joe destroying Holmes and am sure Larry never faced anything like Smokin Joe in his career. That then would leave the question of Frazier as champion when a young fella called Tyson came along.

I mean I see him out boxing Ali, and Lennox Lewis and im not too sure what would go down if he faced Joe Louis, but he seems to match up pretty favourably to all the other all time greats that often get considered GOAT.

Also by GOAT I mean the guy that can beat everyone else or at least more of everyone else than anyone else.

Could Larry have done what ali did and beat foreman, liston, and fraizier?

Would he have always lost to Tyson? and does that say alot about how good Tyson could have been considered had he not gone off the rails?

I think he beats more heavyweight champions than any other heavyweight champion in history, what do you think?
Let's stop splitting hairs, cut to the chase and call a spade a spade:
                  1. Joe Louis
                  2. Muhammad Ali
                  3. Larry Holmes

Don't see him beating a prime Ali or a prime Louis. I think Frazier beats him in a tight decision over 15 rounds. Holmes would be my pick against Foreman, Liston, and Tyson.

One of my dirty little boxing secrets (I've got a few): I don't rate Holmes as highly as most currently do. (Doesn't mean I'm calling him average.)
