I think in those days money was the deciding factor on unifications as leonard and hearns drew big money but had way less defences than carlos or pipino

The Cuevas-Palomino fight was even more curious to me since they were both making title defenses in LA during the same period. It would have done good business in SoCal in that time before PPV's. I have no inside info, but my guess would be that the major problem was the money split. When you have two champions, both usually want the larger share.

I remember watching Pedroza losing his title to McGuigan on Wide World of Sports or something, they spoke of Pedroza on the telecast as if he were a Latin Royaltie. I had the pleasure to meet him and watch him work abit when he came up to Galaxy, he had aged alot since seeing him on television. I fought on the undercard of his last bout when he headlined a card in a hispanic church in Detroit back in the day. The card was being televised live in 6 countries.

That's actually the night that the photo from my avatar was taken. Good times......... Rockin'

Yeah? What was Jackie Kallen like when you met her. That's who you're in the photo with right?

His career best performance was against Patrick Ford, who had recently greatly troubled Sanchez. Pedroza completely dismantled him.

            He'd have given Sanchez hell.

Jackie and I had been close since I was about 15 years old. Long story there but when I was ready to turn pro I decided to call her up, that's who I wanted looking after me.

That's Jackie and I in the photo, one of the coolest women that I've ever known. She's great. She refers to me sometimes as her other son and shes one mom away from my mom. We have a nice relationship.......... Rockin'

There were so many unifications that were never made. That one wasn't made because Sanchez had eyes on Arguello back then and, as we all know, was killed just a year after truly breaking through with the Gomez win.

Good enough to be boxing royalty (top 3) in Panama. Second only to Roberto Duran and a notch above Ismael Laguna.
