As for Usher playing Sugar Ray, he bears a rather striking physical resemblace. I've never seen him act before, nor do I know that he has. However, as soon as I'm done here, I'll check the link I provided above.
According to IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base), aside from a few brief roles and cameo TV appearances, he has no memorable or significant acting engagements, making HOS his big acting break.

They can make an actor look like the person they're portraying with not only makeup, but with CGI these days. That's what happened with the movie Looper, where Joseph Gordon Levitt was cast to play a young Bruce Willis. CGI was apparently used to make him look more like Willis, so I imagine the same would be done for this Bernal guy to make him look more like Duran.

Good question! I know for sure I want to see a Jack Dempsey and Rocky Marciano biopic! Also, if Mike Tyson decides to act in his own biopic, it would make my day.

          1. Jack Johnson- The way he bucked tradition, chased the belt, and just the way he lived his life in general would make a great movie.
          2. Sonny Liston- I think deep down Sunny was sad, his story with the mysterious birth and death would make for compelling cinema.
          3. Joe Louis- His career is amazing. His financial situation would make for a good plot point, and he has the most title defenses.
          4. The Fabulous Four- I know they are four people but I think a movie about all of them together would be great if a bit of an obstacle. The rivalry!
          5. Mike Tyson- I don't know if one is actually in the works or not as there have been whispers, but I think Mike's relationship with Cud D'amato and later meltdown would make for good film.

I don't know what CGI is, or what the letters stand for, as alluded to by Anthony342, but barring that knowledge, I'd say Tyson's too old to play himself through the whole movie. He could play the latter years through today, but it would take a younger actor to pull-off the early years, the way Joseph Gordon Levitt played a young Bruce willis, if you will...

Carl Williams, an 80s heavyweight contender who recently passed away, could make for an interesting story

I think Treat Williams did a Jack Dempsey movie.
