Hasim Rahman was pretty much a real life Stringer Bell (off The Wire), except he actually beat the **** out of debtors with his hands and got shot how many times lol
Five Films on Boxers you would like to see

I am not a major fan of most boxing films. Other than Raging Bull most seem to have the Hollywood production in fight scenes. Most would agree that there were many more compelling stories than Mickey Ward to feature in film. They are making a film on Duran which I think will be out next year? Perhaps this will be a good film. Deniro will play Ray Arcel and Gael Garcia Bernal as Duran. The film will be called Hands of Stone.
I'd also like to see films on Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Robinson, Barney Ross, Muhammad Ali*, Sonny Liston and Joe Louis.
*Yes I know films on Ali have been made before, but they're all weak. The definitive Ali film has yet to be made. BTW, Will Smith did the best he could with the material he was given.Comment

Couple of things have struck me with regard to the production of "Hands of Stone." First, Al Pacino was initially announced to play Arcel, which, in my humble opinion, was better casting in terms of body type to Arcel. The most striking thing about the casting, however, is the selection of the actor who would play the main character. A physical look-alike has never been a requirement for me - although it would be a luxury - but Gael Garcia Bernal's facial features are way to soft to play a rugged beast like Duran. A fellow like John Leguizamo, for example, has that edgy Duran-like look. Who knows, maybe Gael Garcia Bernal can overcome his shortcomings with great acting and chracterization(s).

I also didn't like ALI much. Also thought it was an editing error to simply cut off the film after the Foreman fight. I would have like to have seen the film continue to the Leon Spinks fights.
As a side note, i have tons of ALI material that i haven't gone through yet, i am sure there is plenty of info not included on this films.Comment
