Who is/was the most intelligent boxer of all time?

There are different types of intelligence. Chaz was a spas in the ring...one dimensional but indeed a brilliant guy imo. Toney who can hardly speak english sometimes moves with a ring intelligence that is superb.
Of the smarties my favorite would be one of my favorites the sweet pea! You just have to be that good to work defensively like he did. Mayweather is another one with a big bulbous head of ring intelligence. Someone mentioned Tunney....great pic. Schmelling also....he beat Louis by analyzing bad habits on a guy with very few habits!

Thats damn near cold bloodied!!!! Ray
For his part Louis never held that against Braddock and was always complimentary and called him the bravest man he ever fought. For his part Braddock said Joes jab was like other fighters right hands, and his right was like getting hit by a crow bar.
Definitley a shrewd bit of business by team Braddock though.

Nicky Piper was another academic and mensa member.
In terms of ring intelligence and apparent academic intelligence I rate Gene Tunney pretty highly. Well read, quotable, calculating, elusive and controlled in the ring.
I once heard that Lennox Lewis's chess skills were that of a 'solid club standard'.

From what I remember of the deal Jim got 10% of any title fight that Jacobs was a part of for a number of years. It just so happened that Joe was the champ for the duration of the deal. I believe the promotion was in on it and thats why I'm thinking 25%, 10% going to Jim the rest to the promoters.
Being the champ also means bigger bills and ofcourse the thieves are right there some of them are supposed to be on your side!!!! Damn shame. Ray
