even at the end of the fight, he says "oscar flurrys at the end of the rounds, larry thinks only 1 or 2 maybe landed but i disagree." Lampley and the crowd were jus cheering anything oscar did. What whitaker did at age 33 was amazing, he had the better punch stats at the end and oscars power punches stats were well off and some that landed, whitaker made average because his head went with the punch. I would of watched a rematch, and with better judges, whitaker would of taken itComment

Oscar clearly won that fight. I just scored it recently the other day and had Oscar winning 7 rounds to 3 with 2 rounds even. And one of the even rounds was basically an Oscar round.
HBO made it look at the end of the fight as if it was an even fight because they wanted to sell the rematch to the public. I am a big big Whitaker fan but all he did in this fight was clown around because he realised early that he couldn't win this fight. Oscar was the one who landed almost all the clean hard punches. I gave Whitaker only rounds 1, 7 and 9 and marked 2 of those rounds (1 and 7) as close.
And round 9 was also a close round but I gave it to Sweet Pea because of the knockdown.
I really cannot see how anyone can score that fight for Whitaker.Comment

I believe the very best welterweight version of Whitaker would decision the very best welterweight version of De La Hoya. Is that a bit more clear?
I've got a feeling that De La Hoya's first fight at welterweight was against Whitaker so he'd have only been a lightweight around fight 17!Comment

I had Whitaker winning but it could have gone either way.
Wasn't mad at the decision and certainly not a robbery.Comment
