    Best examples of neutralizing speed?

Examples of a fighter who was perceived as "slow" using his skills to take away a much faster fighter's speed?

There are countless examples of fights where the slower fighter has prevailed over the guy with greater hand and footspeed:

    Frazier vs Ali
    Johnson vs Jones
    Foreman vs Moorer
    Bowe vs Holyfield
    Chavez vs Taylor
    Turpin vs Robinson
    Schmelling vs Louis
    Ibeabuchi vs Byrd

    (Just a few there)

But in most cases, the slower guy tends to win through attrition, conditioning, pace, workrate or sheer power. Its fairly rare that the slower guy wins because of sheer 'skill'.....this did happen in the case of Schmelling vs Louis. But a better example would be in Duran vs Leonard 1. Now lets not pretend that Duran was slow, he certainly wasn't.....but Leonard definitely had the advantages in hand and footspeed. Not only did Duran outwork Leonard, he also outfought and outskilled him.

Greg Haugen neautralized Vinny Pazienza's speed and hyper-activity simply by taking a quick step back and then coming back in with an effective jab.

Though not slow, Vernon Forrest was certainly not as fast as Shane Mosley. But, he kept him outside, using his range to land on Mosley and keep him from getting much done.

Forrest Mosley came to mind first. Then Frazier Ali.

Tszyu was a pretty damn fast (handspeed) amateur himself.

Fair point, his timing was key in that fight though,id say Forrest had the slight edge in handspeed though their was very little in it

A fight I watched recently, Jim Watt vs Howard Davis jr. Watt's right jab, timing, and defense caused problems for Davis who was one of the fastest fighters in history.I don't know if Watt was perceived as "slow" but he was slower than Davis.
