I think that happened to one of Gamboa's opponents on HBO. The ref said 9, then quickly said 10 as the opponent was getting up. In that case though, the ref changed the rhythm of his count.

Randy Neumann (the famous ref) had his 4th pro fight.

Len Hutchins had the 1st blemish (a draw) of his pro career. Hutchins would go on to fight John Conteh for the LH title in the 80's.

Ruben Olivares - one of my favourite fighters - battered the British fighter Alan Rudkin. Up to that point Rudkins chin had been excellent but stood no chance against the 22 year old Mexican who was in his 55th fight (no losses).

Chucho Castillo - who would become the 1st man to beat Olivares - avenged his earlier loss against Raul Cruz.

16 year old Samuel Serrano lost the 1st bout of his 3 bout career (his other 2 bouts were against debutees). He would go on to be one of the greatest Superfeather champs in history.

On the same bill Angel Espada won recorded his 10th pro win. Espada - who later won the WBA Welter title and fought Pipino Cuevas 3 times (all KO losses) as well as a young Hearns, didn't record a win in his first 6 pro bouts. Surely a record.

Marcel Cerdan Jr, son of the all time great (guess who) recorded a win.

Juergen Blin, top European Heavyweight, who fought Ali, won that night.

Tony Mundine, father of **** Mundine, and an excellent fighter, had a comeback bout after his first loss.

And some guy named Carlos Monzon, a Middleweight from Argentina, would beat a nobody whilst in the middle of an 82 bout unbeaten run.

And this was all on a regular Friday night in December.
How can someone only have a 3 bout career and become an all-time great super featherweight champion?
