Dempsey was up there...but let's not forget Louis. He was great at mixing the focus of his attack up between the head and body. Ever see that fight...I think it was vs. Walcott where the fighter he's attacking just wilts from the body assault....

Dempsey and Louis were obviously the most balanced and complete punchers of all the heavyweight champions IMO...they had mental strength, cool headedness, skill, an unflinchingly winning attitude, and were passionate about fighting. But they were also incredibly adept body punchers.

Joe Louis (when he wanted to)
      Julio Cesar Chavez
      Jack Dempsey
      MAB (early in his career)
One guy who isn't going to get much love but definitely deserves a shout - Antonio Margarito. His body punches sounded like a cannonade.

Good ones! Sweet Pea might not have had power but he was ferocious ripping those hooks and uppers to the body.

And Jones has multiple body shot KO's. He's a truly devastating body puncher and not in the traditional wear you down sense. One punch KO power to the body. That's scary.

McCallum and Chavez as already mentioned. Also Marciano, Louis comes to mind.

For me nobody went to the body harder and more frequently than Julio Cesar Chavez. He was an animal to the body, his left hook was devastating and inside he was one of the best fighters of all time. He actually looked up when on the inside so he could see every punch coming.

Today, I think Leo Santa Cruz is just a beast to the body, he is relentless.
