I have him #2 Heavyweight all-time behind Ali but I don't quibble when someone had Louis #1. They could be 1A and 1B and there's a talent gap between them and whoever you have at #3.

I basically have it almost a 3-way split between Louis, Marciano, and Ali. I really think prime-for-prime any of them coulda beaten the other on a given night depending on the situation. It's kinda hard to say. I have him at a very close #3 cause he didn't have the longevity/talent level of an Ali or the fierceness/practically unbreakable record of Marciano. Just my opinion. I do think he had the coolest style of all the heavyweight ATG's save Tyson. Many times when I'd shadowbox I try to imitate him!

Like others have said it's Ali and Louis (in interchangeable order) and then there is a massive drop off.

I'm kinda baffled as it seems some people put almost every other heavyweight ATG ahead of Rocky. It almost seems like some kind of bias that I don't understand. He basically set the standard as every heavyweights goal is pretty much to either match or to break his record. After close to 70 years no one came close save Larry Holmes. I can't see why he wouldn't be higher than most, if not all other heavyweight ATG's. He beat all the best of his time, cleaned out the division, and retired undefeated when there was nothing left to do. What other heavyweight had done this?

He is the best of all time right now. He could box and fight and when on top of his game was as well rounded as any fighter ever. He had power in both hands and was always willing to win at any cost. Ali couldn't fight inside and his defense relied on holding behind the head and walking his opponent off! He leaned back away from punches and all though it worked for him it was poor technique. He stopped opponents on cuts and abrasions or simply wore them down, he didn't have power in both hands either. He was the fastest and smoothest heavy ever and when under 220lbs was at his best by far!! I'll take Joe as the best ever!!!!! Ray.
