I think Saul Alvarez is the best body puncher in the sport today, least now that Miguel Cotto has somewhat shelved his body assaults and left hook in particular

Not gonna say he was the best but Roy had exceptional bodywork.... Ktfo virgil hill from rib breakage and had prince badi pissing blood post fight.

Yeah it depends on whether you're talking ability or "body of work". Like New England said, there are stylistic considerations that saw to it that Roy would not be a dedicated Body puncher. Most dedicated body punchers are inside fighters who also don't mind taking a shot here and there.

McCallum's body attack was art. There are guys who maul you and just chuck punches to wherever, ala Hatton, then there's a guy like McCallum who knifed you consistently on the openings HE CREATED.

Id actually forgotten about Bute! I still rate Saul's over his but Lucien has the best single shot power/placement in world boxing, the left hand to the midsection sucks people's soul's out!
Floyd places his body shots brilliantly, his jab downstairs catches up with guys late i feel and it stops their forward motion for a second while scoring points, he also slips in some tasty looking right hooks in his combinations down there even now but it has gotten less and less of a factor in his fights
