  • Anyone have Bruce Lee's Boxing Rec.?

Bruce Lee had some boxing matches a long long...long time ago but I am unable to find out what the record is and who he fought. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. I checked Boxrec and there is nothing...I remember seeing something a long time ago (around 2001) but thats too far back to remember.
Also...with Lee's methods for fighting (going with the flow) it seems like what Mayweather kind of does today. Please no May or Pac fans arguing.

    Thanks.

Bruce Lee was never in any kind of professional boxing match. He studied fight films extensively though.

^ exactly. he was an actor.

If he fought at 135 Duran would have smashed him in a terrible way.

Bruce Lee did have a few amateur fights, but it was well before he became fitness obsessed or in anything like his prime. He was just a kid at the time. The pictures available of him in the early 60s show a skinny youth, nothing like the super ripped collosus he became.

Bruce Lee was a huge fan of fight films, but he studied fencing too. He favoured the southpaw stance for that reason.

I don't doubt that his fanaticism with fitness, his grace, reactions and natural handspeed would have given him an excellent chance as a professional boxer. There are enough reports from those who saw him (and film too) that confirm that his speed of hand was quite something. He was a seriously competitive and driven guy.

The problem is, lets be honest..........in his physical prime 1970-1973 he wouldn't have had much full contact sparring with world class martial artists. I don't gather that he had any gym face offs with the likes of Chuck Norris. A world class fighter needs to keep fight sharp, and I don't think Bruce Lee in his prime would ever have been fight sharp in a world class sense. He would have sparred with his students and the like of Dan Inosanto. But many of his crazed fans seem to think he was practically unbeatable in a street fighting sense around that time. But honestly, the ballyhoo was all based on his publicists, friends and celebrity friends/students rather than what he had proved against prominent martial artists or professional fighters at the time.

I don't doubt that with tune up boxing matches against increasingly better opposition he could have been terrific, but we don't know?! Who knows how well he'd have taken a punch for example?

In a way, if he hadn't died......the public eventually would have demanded a match to showcase his skills.

I could imagine some crazy promoter setting up a match with Roberto Duran! The money it would have generated would have been very good.

His boxing record was identical to mine and most of us who post here, and he'd have just as much chance at beating a top boxer in his weight class.

                amongst other things!

regardless, we'll never know how good he was, and these debates will go on forever...without actual video footage of Lee in a proper fight against an opponent that was skilful, we'll never know!

but from his books you can learn a lot of things on his philosophy on life, that's what makes him the man! (that is assuming he did write those books!)

This - the most hilarious thread in all of boxingscene is the Ali v bruce Lee one. According to the poll the geniuses who frequent this site reckon Lee would smash Ali up.
