That Cotto always used to be this come forward seek and destroy guy.
He has ALWAYS been a boxer-puncher. Towards the end at 140 and the beginning at 147 he kind of fell in love with his power a bit, but with the exception of a small streak he has ALWAYS boxed.Comment

jake lamotta was a decent puncher. enough to back guys up
bennie briscoe had a chin and power at MW that could back almost anybody up.
kelly pavlik had a very hard left hook
bernard hopkins was a terrific boxer and could get on his toes early in his career. he also had an underrated and very hard right hand at MW
coming up jermain taylor's best punch was his jab. legend has it that he never lost a round on any judges card until he fought hopkins. what do you think was carrying the tempo and winning those rounds?
sergio martinez is not a great puncher
stuck with a middleweight theme.Comment

that's exactly how it was. for a period in time (his prime, arguably,) he had a seek and destroy gear. it wasnt necessarily his temperament consistently, but it was a gear that he would use if the opportunity was there.
he always had a nice little skillset. coming up in the amateurs he was a slick boxer.Comment
