LoL, the only one I could think of.

Rob may know, but I doubt y'all know who the **** my sig's talking about. It's quite fitting though. First the protagonist "Hero of the Bowery" Yankee Sullivan AKA James Ambrose AKA Frank Murray. Second Johnny "Hammer" Lane. Third Tom "The Butcherman" Hyer

Truth is there's a big period were pseudonyms are bigger than people.

        Edit- Anyone mention the Dempseys?

Saw this thread late...most have been done...Although not legal one like Kid Mccoy or bat or Willie Pep, Kenneth Howard Norton is technically feasible since we all know him by Ken Norton.

Or does in America Ken mean Kenneth?I am not sure or Joseph equals Joe or something? Since Joe Frazier is also Joseph William Frazier.

This is a bit of a question I had actually.

But Jersey Joe Walcott definitely is a nick name, since his actual is Arnold Raymond Cream. Walcott took it to honour the Barbados Walcott, which was also a nick name.

Ken is just short for Kenneth as Joe is for Joseph, at least here in the United States.

Willie Pep wasn't his nickname though, his nickname was 'Will O The Wisp', didn't he just change his name to make it easier to pronounce kinda like Marciano did ?.
