compubox has been proven countless time to be unreliable, not to mention i don't need skewed numbers to help me judge who is winning a fight. Vitali was winning to anyone who isn't considered a ****** (American)
And quite possibly a top-5 Light-Heavy.....maybe even top-3.

He possibly could of been the greatest light heavy ever. Think of the fights he could have had at 175. Moore, Johnson, Maxim (I know they fought), Satterfield, Turpin, Durelle, Pastrano, Jones, Olson, Torres, Foster, and Tiger. With a resume like that he would HAVE to be near the top had he won most (I think he would have) or had close fights with these guys.
Patterson is one of my fav fighters of all time. I really like watching his combination punching and even as a small heavyweight he was actually a powerfull puncher especialy with the left. His record at heavyweight is also underated imo with wins over Archie Moore, Ingemar Johansson, Eddie Machen, George Chuvalo, Oscar Bonavena, Tommy Jackson, Henry Cooper, and should have had wins over Jerry Quarry and Jimmy Ellis.
Patterson is not much smaller than some of the heavyweights today, i mean guys like Solis would not weigh much more than Patterson if they were in shape. Imagine Patterson with a massive gut he would be up there in the 220-230lb range.
He came into my dressing room when I was an amateur and wished me luck. It was more than 40 years ago, but I still remember it. A real gentleman. As champion, he ducked some very good men, especially Cleveland Williams. I personally think Williams would have become champion had they fought. His title defense against Pete Rademacher, who never had one pro fight never should have been allowed. Ali called him "the most skilled man I ever fought." Williams, till the day he died, called him something else. But, I agree, he got robbed against Ellis by "the best referee money can buy."
