Louis didn't get starched by a tomato can like Harding did. Schmeling had more talent in his left nut then Andries had in his entire carcass.

Who remembers Ed Hopson? Short and stocky southpaw from the very late
80s and the 90s.....who really had trouble taking a clean, hard shot.

He looked to be another Pernell Whitaker, until he got punched by that is. By a super bantamweight moving up two divisions.

You could make the argument that stocky fighters should take a better punch in general. On the other hand there are so many factors to taking a punch well that it's difficult to point out any single one to stand out amongst the others. See for example the man in my signature, possibly the thinnest boxer who ever lived, not once stopped in over a hundred professional fights.

the neck, shoulders & calves will tell you everything...big neck, shoulders & calves means he has solid base & should absorb punches better..

lennox got hit twice by a couple of lucky punches...he was never down other then 2 completely huge punches that would have knock out anyone other then maybe tua or ray mercer.mccall & rahman had one punch ko power so questioning lennox chin is absurd...lol! wlad has a iffy chin 13 times knocked down

Usually yes, because they tend to have shorter, thicker necks.

thats what i was getting at

                  there are always exceptions

but the guys with thick legs shoulders and neck are usually pretty durable

I wouldn't really describe Hagler as stocky.
