He teed off on a guy standing perfectly still who was only throwing about 20 punches per round. Then he'd grab and hold on whenever he sensed danger. Tyson fans make him out to be some world-beater; in reality he beat a guy who offered less opposition than a heavy bag.
This time I agree with you. Tyson looked like crap from the opening bell in that fight.

Buster could fight but he was a mental case. I wouldn't call him a huge waste of potential though because Holyfield would have beaten him either way. Holyfield was at ringside for Tyson-Douglas and he countered every move that Douglas befuddled Tyson with, ending with a counter on Douglas's homerun uppercut that had sealed the deal against Tyson.

A win against a champion of Tyson's calibre was probably the best he could have ever come up with. I do think he shouldn't have lost some of those fights he did, but that was the tradition in the 1980's. Squandering away whatever talent you may have.

Im assuming you are refeering to Witherspoon, Tubbs and the others?

I think Douglas's dream was to be a basketball player, it was only after that fell threw that he turned to boxing. His heart was never really in it

Mabey give Everyone Fits was a bit strong. But he fought a Great fight and showed every quality u look for in a fighter on that occasion. Take the Tokyo Douglas and any other version of him and its night and day, for that reason i agree he never fought to his potential but id still have Greats like Evander beating him even on that showing. Tyson was not on form that night and still nearly got to him

Douglas fought a great fight that night. And it gave us a look at what he was capable of if he was dedicated to boxing, but of course he wasn't

When he was a heavyweight he pretty much stopped training.

He would have crushed Jack Willard weighing 160 pounds.

He certainly didn't have the talent of a Louis, Ali or Tunney.... that's for sure.
