You know what? much like Roy with the right evil genius Judah could have learned to protect his chin, it wasn't god awful or anything. Judah could have been offensive enough to make guys have to worry about defense.

Zab will probably fight again for a title...I *****e you not. Everytime I write him off as a gatekeeper, which is really what he has been for most of his career, he gets a shot at the gold ring. But when Kahn has an easy time of it, the blueprint is out on ya.
Judah is fighting Malignaggi in December. If he wins (and he certainly could), he'll get another title fight for sure.

Human beings are really quite the optimists aren't they? The Jesuits thought they could convert every chinaman and every boxing pundit swoons when they see a fighter with real bona fide natural superhuman attributes..... The power of Wilder, the reach of Williams, and of course....the raw speed and power of Zab Judah. And after it became common knowledge that Zab would be finished fighting after the fifth round....courtesy of a meltdown, a lack of adjustment, or (as much as I hate to say it) just a lack of intelligence.....There was always a stable of a few hard core Zaba daba Juders who would say again and again "oh its gonna come together because Zab is so talented."

Well through it all, considering the comp in his general weight class, and considering that he has been a champ at times, I guess sometimes Zab does manage to pull it together....But Corey Spinks is no Zoo or Mayweather. Zab has managed to be a great gate keeper but not an ATG.....what a shame though there is no question that he had the raw physical ability to be one in spades.

this thread's intent is to generate discussion on the biggest ever waste of talent in boxing. they've been boxing under queensbury rules for well over a century now.

        odlanier solis?

        • Solis is a good pick, though.

But it seems he is also one of these Cuban refugees who haven’t been able to handle all the temptations he has found in his new country. Forsaking training for a good life.

          • Honestly,, Rid**** bowe has to be at the top of the list,,

the dude had the potential to be on that foreman, frazier, marciano, dempsey type level, and though he was undisputed champ, it went all down hill after that,,,

he could have been an ATG, but instead is just a footnote in history

            • Continuing the Cuban thread …

Has anyone mentioned ‘Teofilo Stevenson, never turning pro’?

(Though, an outstanding amateur doesn’t automatically mean an outstanding pro. If we list the amateur top ten ATG, we would have Mark Breland on that list, but his achievement as a pro is almost forgotten now).

It's no contest. He's the best amateur heavy to turn pro by a lot. I shouldn't have to explain that. Second would probably be Biggs who I listed already.

Edit: Cammarelle will probably be number two once he turns pro.

I thought about it....In my opinion Mr Stevenson has the honors as potentially the greatest fighter ever. But he did establish himself and was a champion. There were times when the Olympics had some good fighters along with the ordinary.
