How good was Bobby Chacon? How would he have performed against fighters like Mayweather or Pacquiao at 130? I didn't get to see him in his prime but his life and career are movie material. Both triumphant and tragic. Anybody here remember him as a fighter and person?

I saw Chacon fight many times, both live and on TV. He was very talented but not always in ideal condition. I'd give him no chance to beat Mayweather or Pacquiao.

      I agree.

He was such an exciting fighter though but he wouldn't beat any of the ATG's.

FAK Pacquiao! I'm sick and tired of everyone comparing every goddamn fighter below 140 to him and asking how they would fare against him. You are truly the children of your own time. Only care about who's nr.1 RIGHT NOW. Even if he isn't really nr.1.

So would you pick Chacon to beat Pacquiao at 130? Otherwise this is just a random rant.

Put Arturo Gatti's IBHOF plaque right next to Bobby Chacon's.

Yeah I know. You would rather talk about fighters like Greg Haugen or Bernardo Mercado.

Hey, I liked Bernardo Mercado! I seriously did!

                But but to Bobby Chacon.....

I remember him before he fought Danny Lopez, before his wife Valerie shot herself. Before he got famous, he was getting steady coverage in the boxing magazines. I seen several of his fights. He had loads of talent. But what he had even more of was heart.

He reminds me a lot of Jerry Quarry. Whoever fought him was in for a rough night, they took tremendous punishment over their career and, sadly, they both suffered severe brain damage as a result of their bravery & resiliency.

I agree with Scott. He would not be a FAVORITE over the elite fighters in & around his weight divisions, but he was one heck of a fighter.
