i think sanchez would have a fairly good shot. armstrong was better at LW and WW but seeing as a 23 year old sanchez never got to show what he can do at an older or higher weight, i'm not sure i could say a definite guess. sorry to act like a newbie and bring up numbers, but i felt i needed to when considering this at FW. when armstrong won his belt in '35, he was 36-8-6 at 23 years old. sanchez won his belt in '80, when he was 31-1-1 at 21 years old. in that specific matchup i would have to favor sanchez but overall my gut instinct would say armstrong just due to his power and style getting the better of sanchez if they were to go 15 rounds.

No, he definitely didn't. Gomez was an ATG power puncher. Armstrong was just ok to good. He was an attrition, wear 'em down type fighter. Didn't have a big single punch.

Would go the distance and be a great fight. One of the few fighters who could brawl and box equally well, Sanchez would fair very well gains the Armstrong and it would be a close war with Armstrong nicking it on activity IMO.

Probably the greatest p4p I've seen in terms of stamina, reflexes and counterpunching. Of course, Henry had an abnormally sized heart with stamina an extreme strong suit, at least while at his peak.

Armstrong is one of those LEGENDARY champions, not just a very, very good one.

Let's not get caught up in the old "outta sight, outta mind" way of thinking. Armstrong was able to win titles in the Lightweight and Welterweight divisions also. Sanchez would have had a very, very hard time duplicating the great resume' that Armstrong made for himself.

I personally rate Sandy Saddler over Sanchez as well.

I remember the first time I watched Armstrong and just muttering to myself.
