No, it certainly doesn't mean everything. I know that. But people try to play it off like it means nothing when it does. It's why Marquez got shutout by Mayweather, a big part of the reason why Arguellon KO'd Olivares...it's something that puts even or near-even fighters over the edge, not something that makes a bad fighter beat a good fighter.

Incorrect you only mention size for the Mayweather fight, not any other factors. In addition, you mentioned a fight in which the smaller fighter was winning before getting KTFO, hell it looked like a wrap for Olivares at the closing of the 12th.

1. I might have mispoke. I said it's why he got shutout. Marquez would have been beaten, even if they were the same size. But that massive size disparity led to him getting destroyed.

2. Smaller fighter controlling the action, bigger guy with superior power KTFOing him late.

It's not everything, but it is something. I'm not going to give that up. I was talking to Marchegiano in another thread and he was insistent that Langford could beat the Klitschkos. I really heartily disagree. There's no shame in losing to a man who outweighs you by a hundred pounds, especially when they're good.

Olivares was behind on points going into the 13th round against Arguello.

Superior power not size, size wasn't really a factor in the fight and it can even be used as an example against your view. Whats to stop Sam getting inside and pounding their bodies he was light years quicker and more skillful than both and has enough power to knock the awful chinned Wlad down, size isn't always an advantage and can be negated by a master on the inside, not to mention Langford had a terrific chin.

I don't know what the judges scorecards were, did you think Arguello was winning? I certainly didn't.

I've seen that fight a number of times (not recently though), and I would have guessed that Olivares was slightly ahead. But the official scores are there to see on boxrec.
