I always held the first match higher than the third. Excitement wise and of course because of historical impact.
Of the Ali-Frazier trilogy I think that Fight of the Century was the best

Two great fighters, TWO great fights (with an average one inbetween)
For me tho the brutality of the Thrilla in Manilla makes it the better bout. I actually feel exhausted after WATCHING that one!!!Comment

yes.
If you take out the politics, if you replace Ali and Frazier with two other boxers and the same things happen in the first fight. No one would remember /care about that fight.
what makes it "great" is the politics and the names of the boxers not the actual content.
then again i'm not a big Ali or Frazier fan so I may be biased.Comment

thrilla gets overrated. Ali said its the best because its the one he won. The exciting one that he won anyways.Comment

Both great fights. Easy top 10 faves of mine!
You cant argue about the Thrilla in Manilla being more action packed. The fact that whoever compiled the highlight videos was able to find 7 odd minutes for fight 1 over 15 rounds and 9 odd minutes for fight 3 over 14 rounds says a bit about the action in the respective bouts.
It could be argued that fight 3 was more frantic, so I could understand some enjoying the first fight more.
But the Thrilla in Manilla gets my vote for the most entertaining bout of their series.Comment
