Checked up on it and I think the most ridiculous part is the fact that he had had one fight in three years agent a guy who was 15-59-5 and he was moving up.

Mercer usually struggled with clever boxers, but I never expected Holmes to school him like that. An excellent performance by Holmes that cost Mercer a sure title shot against Holyfield.

Mercer lost to Jesse Ferguson after the Holmes fight and Ferguson was not a clever boxer, He drew with Marion Wilson who was not a clever boxer, Then got beaten up by Holyfield before losing that close decision to Lennox Lewis which shows just how good Mercer was

Ferguson was very tricky and he clearly outboxed Mercer. And the Holyfield fight was competitive, not a one sided beating.

That was a close fight. In fact the KD is what saved the decision for Holyfield. I watched that fight and it was not one sided or a beating. If anything it was a tactical fight.

Ferguson didn't match up well with Bowe. Nobody is saying he was a legend, just a difficult opponent for some. And your depiction of the Holyfield-Mercer fight indicates that you have never actually seen it.
