      By that standard, Douglas didn't beat the count either. He was only on his way up at the count of 9, and the ref stopped counting at that point, since he was off his hands and knees and going to beat the count of 10

      Just as Tyson was off his hands and knees and on his way up at 9.

        I don't actually disagree the ref could certainly have called it off there and then. Plenty of referees could easily have interpreted it that Douglas failed to beat the count.

                  • Tyson had never been down before. the situation started surfacing all over town & Tyson pulled out claiming a "cold". he never rescheduled & the rest is history. in hindsight he beat Ruddock twice after so would history be different if he actually fought Ruddock in Edmonton? you never know...
