My opinions on fighters changes almost daily the more I learn from the good posters of this forum. I've particularly learned a lot about Langford and Greb which has caused me to re-evaluate my all time p4p rankings.

once upon a time, I thought that Lamon Brewster was a harder hitting Joe Frazier with a better chin.

Brave of you to admit that.

This site(especially the History section)has expanded my knowledge of the past great fighters, as well as the current crop that we have now.

To me the most well respected and knowledgable posters can be found in the history section. And I appreciate the wealth of knowledge that you all bring to the site. I've been watching Boxing for roughly 30 years now, and it still amazes me how much I learn by coming here daily. Hell, I would go as far as to say even Bert Sugar himself could learn a thing or two from some of the posters here.
Yeah, I've picked up on a lot of things, some opinions have changed and some have been strengthened. Nothing has changed about my opinions of the old-timers, but the major change is that I used to think that the fighters of the 40's and 50's were the greatest bunch ever. Now I think that the greatest gloved fighters were predominantly active between 1900 and 1920, especially after watching 7 minutes of Battling Nelson and Ad Wolgast.......... man, that's the greatest fight I've ever seen, it was already the greatest fight I'd ever read...... I learned something watching that 7 minutes...... those guys fought at an incredible pace,.... in my imagination, I always saw Nelson in my head as a simple head down wild swinger with no technique and slow. --------------------------------------------------- WRONG, WRONG, and WRONG again..... the bloke is freaking awesome, and Wolgast, well almost a younger clone and just brilliant, what a fighter, what a LW............... THIS WAS THE GOLDEN ERA OF ALL BOXING HISTORY................--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I said, these two were incredible,... these guys were more active in the 23rd round than most fighters today are in the first 6 rounds. I now think that Wolgast and Nelson are way better than anyone today, in any weight class.
