PED's wouldn't really help a guy like Manning or Brady much anyway. They kill you upstairs more than with their arms, although they both have cannons. If it was all about physical gifts at QB, Jay Cutler would be the GOAT. Honestly, though, PED's don't even bother me that much. People hate them because ESPN tells them to, but I'd be a total hypocrite if I let them bother me. I grew up a SF Giants fan and I watched a lot of Bonds' performances. Hell, I saw 71 and 72 at Pac Bell (it's always Pac Bell to me).

There are rules that help them break those records, but even just looking at them, you can see that they're better than most everybody else not named Montana. Maybe Unitas.
Im not saying athletes were better back than either. There have been great athletes in every era. But anyone saying athletes are greater today just isn't looking at all the facts. In most sports surfaces have been greatly improves making it easier to run faster and not be hurt as easily. Equipment has gotten lighter and stronger. Take these factors into consideration and minus the PED's and medical improvement and are athletes really any better?

the thing about boxing is that the better athlete doesnt always win. Boxing has WAY more mental factors than basketball or football, and you cant even compare it to a sport as simple as track. not only skill, but determination, heart, and prefight strategy play a huge roll.
in terms of straight up athletic prowess, most the best athletes came around the 1980s and 90s, not present day. At least when considering things like long jump, high jump, and shotput.
