Just realized, are we really debating over his name ? .

Let's just say Sonny meant his 175 run I think where he was clearly better and leave it at that now, kind of getting tedious.

Both know what we're getting at but just see it differently, clearly .

It was directed towards Sonny and his silly claim that Qawi fought better when he used a different name. Whether he was "universially" recognized or not doesn't change the fact that his name was changed when I claimed it was. I posted details because I don't like making statements without backing them up. There's Nothing "sh**y" about that. No need to act like a whiny little girl about it.
As always you are wrong... NChristo is correct in that Braxton changed his name when he moved up to cruiserweight... i am not interested in your little article which you are trying to use as proof because your article is also wrong

NChristo has already put up proof that you are wrong by showing Braxton vs Spinks and here is Braxton vs Saad Muhammad II when Braxton was already Champion which proves that your article in incorrect as well as proving you are incorrect... you need to stop going through threads on the forum trying to "Trip-up" members and calling them to explain to you in a manner which is you looking for a "Weak Link" in them and their answer and just try to respond to the thread with positive comments because you are wrong far more times than ever you are correct.

Of course you're not interested in the truth because facts are always non existent when it's convenient for you. And I will be willing to bet you won't and can't find anything that refutes it. I'll wait.

Oh and here's another for you.

It was after winning the title in December 1981 that Dwight legally changed his name.

The only member I ever "trip up" is you because you lie far more than you tell the truth. Not too hard to trip you up.

I havent seen much of Foster other than a few fights...how did he do against opponents that bulled into him on the inside? no one could really keep Qawi off of them, it was just a (short) matter of time before Qawi brought the fight into close quarters.

Qawi/Braxton couldn't get close to Mike Spinks, so why would he against Foster, who was even taller and rangier than Spinks? Foster dictated the tempo of his fights. Joe Frazier walked right through him, but Qawi was hardly as powerful as Frazier.

i have noticed for a few months now how you constantly try to "Trip-me-up" but have never been successful with your lack of success being down to your lack of knowledge of boxing history, also the remarks you make against me are meaningless and do nothing other than make my standing even greater while at the same time exposing anything you say as `Total buffoonery".

Dwight Muhammad Qawi was a far greater fighter when campaigning as a 175lb fighter under the name of Dwight Braxton. He beat all the top contenders in the 175lb division including, Bull`Martin, Johnny Davis (twice), Mike Rossman, James Scott, Eddie Davis & Saad Muhammad (twice)... Braxton moved up to Cruiserweight and won the WBA title from Piet Crous in South Africa which was a very good performance yet it was plain to see that Braxton now Qawi was on the slide and had "Lost his Legs" he lost his title to a young Holyfield 12 months later in an excellent 15rd championship fight but that was his last and final great performance. He lost every time he fought an opponent rated above Class C from then onwards unto he retired with his last 12 fights him being nothing more than a journeyman.

Well the only doubt in my mind would be he was a darn site more powerful than any of Foster's opposition at 175.. So was Saad, and i'm still interested to hear the views of those who believe Saad was washed up at the time he fought Braxton (Qawi). At 28 and after only 7 years into an 18 year career, this befuddles me.

Mickey.. Saad Muhammad lost 12 of his next 19 fights mostly against mediocre journeymen and was never the fighter he had been previous to his 2 defeats by Qawi... Saad Muhammad was one of the ATG warrior's of this sport with his "come from behind" victories Legendary when in his prime years.. Saad Muhammad's style of fighting meant that his career would be shorter rather than long, his wars with Marvin Johnson, Yaquie Lopez, John Conteh, Eddie Gregory, Marvin Camel & Bull`Martin was what made the 175lb division the most exciting weight-class in the sport in the late 70s early 80s with many of his fights being voted Fight of the Year, Round of the Year & Comeback of the Year and Saad Muhammad himself being voted as one of the Top 10 Greatest Light-Heavyweights of all time...When the phrase "Recuperative-Powers" is mentioned in Boxing then Mathew Saad Muhammad should be known as the guy who invented it.. what a fighter/warrior he was.. watch the 8th round here.
