    Swarmers with a REVERSE GEAR

Can I get some suggestions for swarmers who could fight in more than one way? I'm most familiar with Joe Frazier, and what I know is that he could only fight coming forward.

Aaron Pryor was a swarmer who didn't just come forward but from ever conceivable angle. From everything I've read about Harry Greb the same can be said for him and for Henry Armstrong too.

As was mentioned, Aaron Pryor had the tremendous ability to pressure his opponent on the inside, wear him down with unrelenting aggression - the epitome of a pressure fighter. He also has the ability to box his opponent from the outside, which he displayed in pockets during his first fight with Arguello. He could display tremendous lateral movement, if need be.

Rocky Marciano is another fighter who may be considered both a swarmer and a slugger.

Ricky Hatton had a reverse gear, he showed it a few times succesfully in his career, Ben Tackie and Juan Urango to name a couple he used this style on.

Ive heard Miguel Cotto branded a swarmer tho thats not what id class him as, he applies educated pressure and can box well off the backfoot as shown throughout his career but most noteably in his winning bouts with Ceballos, N'dou, Abdullayev and not so succsessfully but still impresivly against Margarito.

Marvin Hagler has often been confused for being a face 1st brawler, but he could fight behind the jab rather well.

Good point on Hatton. He wasn't quite as good at it, but better than people think.

But is Cotto really a "swarmer?" I figure anyone who brands him as such is only a peripheral boxing fan. He put pressure on, but it was much more measured than Margarito or even Chavez. And you're right, he could box alright going backwards. It looked really pretty, but he got hit a lot more than he looked like he should. That "shoulder roll" he'd try was laughable. If you could out-pressure Miguel and make him go backwards, you could beat him.

Nah defo not a swarmer IMO but alot of the idiots in NSB have branded him one, his presseure fighting is alot more measured than a Hatton or Margarito's.

He's no Mayweather on the backfoot but i like the fact that he can not only beat a guy going backwards he can beat a guy Up going backwards! He still lets the big shots go

Like I said, it looks pretty, but when has it ever worked? He backpeddled against Mosley, Margarito and Pacquiao. He had the most success against Mosley and Pacquiao when he put the pressure on them and we all remember Margarito.

I just dont think its quite good enough to beat the elite guys, but i had him winning a good few of those late rounds against Shane when he was backpeddaling and Against Margarito i thought he boxed well but he just isnt good enough at that type of fighting to keep a guy like Tony off him all night. And Against Manny it was out of necessity, if he didnt get on his bike he was getting Laid Out! It was close to just running infact

His bread and Butter is clearly pressure fighting tho as u say
