Cotto, Clottey & Margarito all said Pacquiao is the hardest puncher they have ever faced as well as the greatest boxer they have ever been in with, add to that the fact that Pacquiao has improved with every performance under Freddie Roach then i simply cannot see were your comments are coming from.. Pacquiao is still improving and would be a huge favorite to beat Martinez should they ever meet.

Margarito is one tough hombre and i would take him to defeat Martinez if they ever fought a rematch. Margarito got plenty of his punches home against Pacquiao and i dont feel Martinez is anywhere near as tough as Pacquiao so would fold again under Margarito's onslaught.
I don't really care what Clottey and Margarito said. They have to up the guy that just demolished them. I can see with my own eyes that they weren't really bothered by his shots. And do you really think that Pacquiao hits harder than Mosley? Mosley landed fewer punches to way more spectacular results. Margarito might have been compromised, but was that the difference between "annoyed" and "knocked the **** out?" I think that Pacquiao peaked at the Cotto fight. He was truly invincible there. Unbelievable fighter. He didn't look quite as good against Clottey, but if a guy just sits there and blocks and has a granite chin on top of that, I can understand not looking so good. But against a walking punching bag? Margarito hurt Pacquiao pretty bad a couple of times. You could see it. He would go against the ropes and **** him to the ribs and Pacquiao could feel the size difference. Margarito's strong, but he doesn't have much snap on his punches. Martinez does. He lands to Pacquiao's body and you could be looking at a knockout. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Pac fan, but I don't like his chances against the bigger, fresher Martinez. It would be a good opportunity to see how he fairs against an ultra-slick fighter, though.

At this point I think Margarito is a shot fighter. It would still be a tough fight for Martinez but at this point in both of their careers I think Martinez can beat him.

I think you're buying into the hype after the marg/pac fight and the martinez/williams fight.

A fight between Martinez and Margarito would be nothing like Margarito/Pac.

Pac and Martinez are very different fighters and despite the HUGE difference in speed, Margarito went 12 rounds and absorbed an insane amount of punches, more punches than he would take from Martinez.

I do think Martinez can beat him as I believe Margarito is shot but this is still a very tough fight for Sergio because of his style. He's going to get hit and Margarito can still throw bombs. He has one of the hardest body punches in the game, even today.

Sonny since coming up from 140 when has Pacquiao shown the one punch KO power than Martinez showed in the second round against Williams? Pacquiao is explosive and throws a lot of punches, bleeding his opponents out slowly but I don't think he hits as hard as you think.

Who has he laid out since leaving 140? Power is not something I associate with Pacquiao, as much as I do speed and accumulation of punches. He doesn't hit you once and put you on your back like Vargas, Oscar, Trinidad, Margarito, Mosley, etc. have been able to do in their careers in big fights.

Who is the last guy Pacquiao has knocked down since leaving 140? We'll ignore the fact that he's come into the ring between 144-148 since he was fighting at 135....

I don't think Martinez has a power advantage over Pacquiao. The Williams fight was just one fight, Martinez has not shown himself to be a big puncher at middle weight or lighter. He teed off on Pavlik for 4 rounds and did not come close to knocking him out. I would not say he even has power like Jermain Taylor who was no huge puncher.

Even though i agree with much of what you just wrote and i happen to be a fan of Antonio Margarito your wrong about Manny Pacquiao not hurting Margarito in their fight. On at least two occasions did i see a badly hurt Margarito being damm near broke in half from the left hand body shots from the much smaller Pacquiao, seems like Freddie Roach and his team watched the left hooks that Mosley used on the inside against my boy Margarito becuase them shots were killer shots.

Martinez hits harder than Manny Pacquiao... He is fighting bigger men. He's fighting guys who are coming into the ring weighing close to 170 pounds and he is scoring knockouts.

And the one punch KO against Paul Williams may have just been "one fight" but it was "Paul Williams." Paul Williams was a top 3 p4p guy and Martinez knocked him out cold, something nobody has ever done, and Paul is still in his prime.

Pacquiao even at lower weights wasn't knocking anybody out while they were prime and at the top of their game. Oscar and Hatton were both flunks and bums. Cotto was a good win but I don't think he is all that good and he has been brutally KO'd before. That stoppage came after a long fight and Cotto was winded yet made it to the 11th or 12th round, without going down.

Cotto, Clottey & Margarito who Pacquiao has fought above 140 are world class operators and don't make the mistakes of guys like Hatton & Williams who both got poleaxed.. Cotto gave Pacquiao the opening and Pacquiao punished him putting him on the deck.. Cotto then closed-up and ran for the next 6rds, Clottey never once opened-up and gave Pacquiao the opportunity to KO him yet both fighters went into the fight disrespectful of Pacquiao's punching power yet came out of the fight and claimed he was the hardest puncher they had been in with. Margarito took a frightful beating from Pacquiao and the damage he received was quite shocking considering Pacquiao set off in this sport as "A Garden gnome = 105lb" .... Martinez was unable to inflict that kind of beating or damage on Margarito so it is fare to say Pacquiao is a tremendous puncher..
