Lewis PUNISHED Tyson for those 8 rounds. He's said many a time that he wanted to punish Tyson for the things he said leading up to the fight. Tyson may not have been prime, but he wasn't the washed up bum people make him out to be.
I've just rewatched the McCall KO and at no point does the ref have to catch him, yes he was unsteady at first, but by the time the ref stopped it he could've continued. Considering he was the champion I think the stoppage was premeture. I do think in the aftermath of Watson-Eubank that referees were a lot quicker to stop fights (an rightly so in a lot of cases), but on this occasion I think the ref should've given Lewis a chance to continue.
