Why have their been so few good heaviweights over 250 lbs?
      they're playing basketball

in the past, when the worlds best large athletes boxed, the men just werent as big.
does that doom them neccessarily to losses agaisnt bigger men? certainly not
but does that negate the advantages size allows?
      no

primo carnera was litterally found in a circus
his career was a cashcow for illigitimate businessmen

he wasnt much more than a freak

nikolai valuev is a dismal athletic specimen
he looks like he's a pituitary giant (suffers from gigantism)
      simmilar situation

lennox lewis had a very good chin. heavyweights that get caught w/ flush sunday punches and get kayo's shouldnt neccessarily be doomed to an eternity of speculation about beard quality

he catches plenty of guff for knockout losses without credit for the victories he had over tremendous punchers (tua, tyson, mercer, vitali in his prime when he was a real puncher, razor ruddock, shannon briggs, tommy morrison)

      i've met lennox
to believe that a small heavyweight wouldnt at least face a tough task in dealing w/ his size is rediculous

      he's a mountain of a man
The game of basketball is rigged for tall people due to the rim being 10 feet off the ground. Other sports have much smaller men playing them on average.

As for your question about why there are so many weight divisions. Imagine there was only one open weight class. There would not be many big fights each year. Having many weight classes makes good sense as far as business in boxing is concerned.

I played a lot of sports growing up and being big does not mean as much as you think it does.

Apparently they do, as you are a textbook troll. Shouldn't you be hounding a helpless person from behind the safety of your boyfriend?

Since you asked, I got into a debate on NSB with a Pinoy who worships Pacquiao and he started a thread in the Pinoy Lang requesting they red me so I got hit by 5 Pinoys with a lot of Karma. I could really care less about green or red as it proves nothing and makes no difference to me.

I've watched the Sharkey fight many times and I have no doubt it was on the level even if some of Carnera's other fights weren't. Sharkey himself always maintained he was legitimately stopped by Primo and even after he passed away his wife swore up till his last breath he was steadfast that he got beat fair and square.

Joe Louis was never KO'd early at any point in his career, not even when he was old and fought a young Marciano.
