Falling short, no matter who he beats at this stage.

what if he got the win he deserved vs dawson?

How would a Dawson win propel him into all time greatness?

shouldnt it do for him what hopkins win over pavlik did for him?its also assuming he can beat froch.personally dont think he's an atg because ive seen him fight but if their was no vid and he had the dawson win,i would consider it

I thought he lost to Dawson. But even if he won we can't compare it to Hop, who won a title and defended it 20 times. I like Johnson, he's a throwback, but he just doesn't have the resume of wins for me (at least) to consider it. Jmo.

                Everyone lost to Sven Ottke.

Ali would have lost to Sven '****in' Ottke.

That was actually not a controversial decision.

Johnson falls way short of ATG status.. Johnson is a good world champion and great advertisment for the sport with his "Road-Warrior" moto and never say die style of fighting he will be remmembered as a decent champion but never will he make ATG staus

It was a close fight and he didn't deserve to win. Dawson snuck out a close fight. It was just a close fight that Johnson lost. He didn't deserve anything. I think it would have been worse if he won. Dawson won that fight more than Johnson did.

Even if he did beat Dawson, so what? His biggest win is Roy Jones. After that, Tarver, after that, who? Montell Griffin, Clinton Woods? He also lost Tarver and drew and lost to Woods. They are all his big wins. Jones, Tarver (also lost to), Woods (drew and lost to), Griffin.

Now, his loss list; Merqui Sosa, Joseph Kiwanuka, Silvio Branco, Bernard Hopkins, Sven Ottke, Dawson, Omar Sheika, Syd Vanderpool, Julio Cesar Gonzalez, Derrick Harmon, Cloud, Tarver and Dawson.

To be honest, I'm not even sure he should be a HOFer, even with wins over Ward and Froch. It's not as if they are close to be anything like HOFers themselves. They are just good, solid champs at the moment, nothing more, nothing less.

He has a grand total of one HOFer on his resume, that being a guy who had just been knocked out in his previous outing in two rounds.

He's the guy you want to get into the HOF, not necessarily the guy who deserves to. He's been a great fighter as he got older, but that doesn't stop the fact that he's lost about three times as many big fights as he's won. The majority of good fighters he's faced, he's lost to. Yes, some of them were bad decisions but most were not. The Dawson fight wasn't a bad decision. It wasn't close to what some people like to call a robbery and I had Dawson winning.

Even with those guys as wins, he struggles to become a HOFer. Not close to being any form of ATG. Really though, being a HOFer is an ATG: from the lower tier ATGs to the P4P greats. HOFers are meant to be all the greats of each era and I don't think Johnson has been a great of his era.
