      You do realize that the only reason Joe Louis fought Marciano was because he was broke. He wanted to be retired. Beating Louis ten years earlier would have meant GREATNESS.

        For the record, a prime Marciano doesn't make it past the 7th round against a prime Louis.

                Every heavyweight on that list knocks out Marciano early because they are heavyweight boxers and Marciano was 180 pounds. Every other half way decent heavyweight from the 1970's to this day would knock out Marciano early.

                  In which title defences was Marciano 180 lbs?
                  If Marciano was fighting in later eras,I think it reasonable to suppose,he might add some more functional weight perhaps around 12/15lbs?

                    That's why all these fantasy fight that, cross eras , are pointless.

                    Your logic is correct. Here is the reverse problem: Let's go the other way. What if Tyson Fury was born in 1923? He probably be 6' 2" and topping out at 230. He would still be the giant of his day but a very different looking opponent for Marciano to face.

                    Judge a man's greatness by what he did in his own time and stop playing time machine.
