Maybe joe louis had a better jab in p4p terms as he weighed allot less than klitschko, but wlads is so damn long and has a ton of power behind it. Gonna have to go with wlad on this one, he dominates whole fights with his jab alone pretty much

Joe Louis could land 2 or 3 jabs in the same amount of time Klit could throw and land one. This thread really shows how many size matters ppl we got. Theres only a handful of heavys who have a jab better than Louis had (some ppl even debate it), Liston, Ali, Holmes, and Foreman. The only reason he gets away with his jabbing and clinching the whole time is the opposition is total garbage who get blown up by the 30 second mark of the first round.

Louis fought fighters bigger than your list of 210-235, so according to youre brain, since he fought bigger guys AND won he must be great beating those giants who have every advantage over him because size=skill right?

Good thing we have a mod to keep trolls like you out, at least others who listed wlad gave reasons why and didnt troll

I started the thread about which size is ideal at heavy weight. At the start of the thread I said " I think Wlad, Vitali, And Lewis are good" and I meant it. I just think the chances of some one 6'6 having other great ability's other then just being big are not as great as some one around 6'2. Only because there are so few people 6'6. Sure all other ability's being even I would take the 6'6 250 pound frame. But I just don't think the odds are as good at 6'6 compared to 6'2.

Wlad has a great jab after he retires if some of the guys he beats go on to do well or rule a competitive division. You can bet he will get more respect. Right now though there is not much to compare him against.

The average heavyweight back in the 30s and 40s was smaller and weighed less than my ideal dimensions, including Louis. That said he was damn good!

Louis fought every decent heavyweight of his time out there, I cant think of anyone that he ducked.

              End of discussion.

People now days are bigger mainly due to consecutive generations of good nutrition. Back in the 30s and 40s when people were on average smaller. The best weight at heavyweight was maybe 6 feet even 200 pounds. Of course the odds don't always play out that way. Sometimes even though the chances are against something it still happens. Its in the realm of possibility's for an 7 foot fighter with more skills then ever to be born. But it is very unlikely.

Just sweepingly calling an era weak is a weak argument, and obviously, Wlad has indeed paid for over-relying on his jab before. Sanders stepped in and threw hooks as Wlad jabbed and caught him, something Peter has done too, but Wlad is miles ahead of where he once was as far as doing that and has adopted some of his brother's subtle forearm parrying.

If you could personally have anyone's jab - and jab alone - at your disposal, it's hard to pick over Wlad. Had he ever learned to follow up with his right hand he would have been REALLY scary, because his jab opens people's defense so effortlessly but he seems more content dwindling their confidence and facial flesh away than finishing it with a 1-2. If anything, his success paired with his lack of right-hand ferocity is evidence that his jab is one of the best single weapons we've seen.
