They were full-fledged light-heavies who also fought and beat numerous heavyweight contenders. I'd pick both of them to beat Robinson. They could out-box Sam, but then again he could knock them out. It would be great to watch.

No fighter ever KOd Ray Robinson and yes Sam was a tremendous hitter but Robinson carried dynamite in both fists in all likelyhood it is Sam who gets KOd

Just has to be Robinson. When you watch him back then he has the same kind of developed style as fighters do nowadays, whereas all his opponents were just tough as nails and swung their arms around. Robinson did what Mayweather does once a year today, once or twice a month!

How many light-heavyweights/heavyweights did Robinson KO?

He also never faced anyone except Maxim as light heavy. When Sam was at middle he faced Heavyweights including heavy weights (who could not KO him). don't think sugar could have lasted 15 rounds with Ali or Marciano or Joe Louis weighing 156-158.

Langford most certainly would not have lasted 15 rounds with Ali, Marciano & Louis... The heavyweights who Sam fought was not in the same league as Marciano or Louis, Jack Johnson hammered Langford at heavyweight and it is debatable if he could have beaten Ali Marciano or Louis, don't forget that Ray Robinson was "Past his best" by the time he moved up to middleweight.. the difference between Robinson's fights and Langfords fights is that all Robinsons fights was "For Real" unlike a huge amount of Langfords fights which was nothing more than glorified sparring sessions when he was matched against fighters of his own creed.

Sure Louis,Ali might have been better than Johnson, but surely Robinson could have taken on some lesser heavies. If his chin was as great he could have fought, lesser heavies (than Louis , Ali I don't mean they are worthless or something like that) like Machen,Patterson, Vingoe etc etc.

Sam Langford beat Willis when he gave up 40-50 pounds.. No way does Robinson or any middle weight bear a full thud of Sam's punch on the chin. Listen he was voted #2 in rings list of greatest punchers for a reason. He kncoked out good heavies with great chin cold...not for 10 counts but absolutely cold. Okay? Robinson is a middle weight? Hagler had a great chin, but could he bear the punch of someone who KO's a heavy flat out. Its beyond reason.

Robinson had a great chin at middle weight..don't confuse the two...but he was down plenty of times unlike Hagler (down only once, but a slip mostly). He was hurt plenty of times, La motta put him down. To survive Sam you needed a great heavyweight chin. Which Robinson never had. He never fought enough lightheavies to prove so(leaving aside heavies). I doubt if Hagler could take a Willis punch on the chin leave aside Sam.

Sonny you can make a case for Robinson as #1 accepted, but I gave you plenty of sources to know Sam had a great career too. I don't know why you can't accept that. You seem to have an agenda against Sam. never mind this is my last postto you for a long long time.So before leaving I will tell you this you need to read more books not google links. Read Clay Moyle's excellent book on Sam, 40 years you might have read alot but this will let you know of a lot of things you seem to be completely ignorant of.

No i don't have an agenda against Sam Langford far from it, i look at boxing with a realistic eye unlike you who seems to add things on that are far from realistic or truthful... you keep stating that Sam KOd heavyweights which is true enough but then you claim he would KO the likes of Ali, Marciano & Louis which is "Silly talk"... the truth is that Sam KOd heavyweights who was 2nd rate and that includes Harry Wills who was not in the same league as Jack Johnson, Dempsey, Tunney, Marciano Ali or Louis etc, Sam Langford himself said the greatest heavyweight he ever set eyes on was Jack Dempsey... Sam was completely destroyed by Jack Johnson yet i read comments on boxing forums from members claiming "Johnson ducked Langford" and "Dempsey ducked Wills" which is pure garbage and if it is not garbage then Sam Langford & Jack Johnson are notorious liar's which i very much doubt....Why would Robinson the undesputed Worlds welterweight champion want to fight heavyweights like Louis, Carnera, Baer, Walcott etc... he wouldn't, so to make your case based on Robinson not fighting men in higher weight divisions is crazy, you are making your case for Langford and i am making my case for Robinson yet your case in built on Langford beating some 2nd tear fighters who weighed 200lbs.
