  • Who was the best OVERALL puncher in the sport ever?

I don't mean raw power, this includes everything speed, acccuracy, combinations, power, finishing etc.
I would probably go with Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson or Thomas Hearns.

    Your thoughts??

Seriously? He was a good puncher but nowhere near the likes of the fighters already mentioned in this thread.

I cast my vote for Jimmy Wilde. P4P no one was as accurate, and he had incredible power as well. He was also one of the best combination punchers I've ever seen, and his best work isn't even on video. Even in his later stages, I've never seen a better puncher than him.

Sam Langford was also a deadly-accurate and deadly-powerful puncher; once again, much of his best work was not captured on film.

Hamed, Tito and Valero in more recent times.

All time I would say Tyson.

                  1. Joe Louis
                  2. Sam Langford
                  3. Jimmy Wilde
                  4. Archie Moore
                  5. Sandy Saddler
                  6. Stanley Ketchell
                  7. Jack Dempsey
                  8. Bob Fitzsimmons
                  9. George Foreman
                  10. Earnie Shavers
                  11. Sugar Ray Robinson
                  12. Ruben Olivares
                  13. Wilfredo Gomez
                  14. Rocky Marciano
                  15. Sonny Liston
                  16. Mike Tyson
                  17. Bob Foster
                  18. Thomas Hearns
                  19. Khaosai Galaxy
                  20. Alexis Arguello
                  21. Carlos Zarate
                  22. Max Baer
                  23. Rocky Graziano
                  24. Matthew Saad Muhammad
                  25. Julian Jackson

Joe Louis without doubt was the best puncher in boxing history. Him and Ray Robinson are also the two greatest combination punchers in boxing history. Bob Fitzsimmons was an incredible puncher he was a middle weight but regularly knocked out heavy weights and appeared even in the top 10 list of Nat Fleischer's heavyweights. Max Baer had a devastating right hand that allegedly killed one and put one on the way.And for anyone who questions #3 here is the record of Jimmy Wilde 137 wins, 4 losses, 2 draws and 8 no-decisions, with 100 wins by knockout. One of the more prolific KO artists of all time. Jack Dempsey was a ATG great p4p great puncher too.

I saw the little that is of Langford on film and he is great puncher as well. Very straight short punches and good enough to KO a modern sized heavy Harry Willis at least twice when being out weighed by atleast 40 pounds and well past his prime.

Yes I am pretty content with Louis and Sam at the top though I would have Julian Jackson way higher than 25, same with Hearns.
P/S:- I posted the rings list because there have been so many great ATG punchers over the years that I find it very hard to select any 5 from them or three...Exception being JOE LOUIS...
