Remember watching it live, Littles was good, beat Frankie Liles but lost the rematch, I believe the rematch was after this. LightsOut you know I got these fights, my appoligies for not being organized enough to find them now. I have checked a few storage areas already for the Nunn-Liles fight but no luck.

I can agree with this, he was at his peak at smw its a shame he let outside issues derail his career. My fav Toney fights are: McCallum I, Littles and Barkley

Those fights are hard to come by. I have seen Littles-Liles II, I cant find anything else with either him or Liles

Toney was in a zone in this fight, especially during round 3, when he started to time Littles right hands

I agree Toney back then had some great skills, its a shame fights with Benn and Eubank never happened

Whats your criteria for deciding if a fighter is a ATG or not?

A lot of that was because he was fighting guys who were naturally much bigger than himself and they were both great performances by Toney.

In what ways do you think Mayweather is better than Toney?

Awesome performance by Toney, it also showed the kind of fighter he was by dealing with such adversity

Mayweather is a more skilled, more versatile boxer than James Toney ever was.
For a fat middleweight to beat a tough undefeated reigning cruiserweight champion , much bigger and 6 years younger than himself it is a great P4P achievement . His win over Holyfield is somewhat less impressing but still , 7 years later Holyfield remained unstopped and had some nice wins since then.
And then come Toney's wins over Sanderline Williams (avenged draw) , Merqui Sosa , Michael Nunn , Doug DeWitt , Iran Barkley , Tony Thornton , Tim Littles , Charles Williams , Ernest Mateen (Toney well ahead on points prior to the disqualification) , Steve Littles , Adolpho Washington , Rydell Booker , Dominick Guinn and the draw against Hasim Rahman .
Yet unstopped as a boxer to this day .
Who did better ? Roberto Duran ? Manny Pacquiao ?
