One of Toney best performances, especially round 3, which was a clinic in counterpunching. I think the fight should of got stopped a bit sooner though. Also does anyone here have any info on Littles, he was a very talented fighter imo?

Littles is best known for beating Roy Jones in the amateurs as well as his fights against Frankie Liles, both in the amateurs and the pros.

I thought this was one of Toney's best performances. He was in there against a talented opponent and needed to show urgency after getting cut, and he did by getting Littles out of there.

The Littles-Liles fights are must watch if you want to know more about Littles.

Great nights action.. i watched this fight Live` at the Telewest Arena in 1996 which is not far from where i live, it was on the undercard of Naseem Hamed vs Daniel Alicea and preceded the main event.

i agree james toney is an ATG no matter what anyone says about his weight problems but aint nobody have them skills like that including floyd mayweather james toney will stand right in front of you and dare you to hit him square on the chin but he has that ruggedness to torture you with sharp counters and he was a warrior!!!

I've never heard anyone question Toney's "greatness" based upon him being a fat f^ck.I don't regard him as an ATG,even if he does have dem slick African American type skillz.

When a shot Holyfield,and an overrated Jirov are counted as among greatest wins,it doesn't say a whole lot about your resume.


Mayweather is a more skilled,more versatile boxer than James Toney ever was.

No it's not, if anywhere it was started in Philly, George Benton was a most prominent user of the "shoulder roll" back in the 1940s and 50s.
Some good footage of him, was most probably used earlier too.

It's not just the shoulder roll, the whole defense is from grand rapids. I've trained there and they all box like that.
