Is Sonny Liston A Top 10 ATG Heavyweight?

I think I'd have him just squeezing into the top ten he demolished everybody in his day until he met Ali and I reckon he would have been too much for either Frazier or Rocky. Simply cause the come straight at type fighters don't too well against bigger badder come straight at you type fighter.
fair enough he met a prime Ali that would have beaten anybody and got well beaten. But his displays in both those fights showed he was seriously lacking heart so definately no higher than 8Comment

H2H i have him right in there..
But achievement wise he just misses out for me, He may very well have ruled for a long time if not for Ali, But the fact is Ali was there and Ali did beat him twice, once convincingly and once ........ Well thats a mystery.
I can't lie The second Ali fight is one of the main reasons Sonny just misses out for me, He was a Powerhouse with a fantastic Jab, and H2H he would win against Most of the ATG.
We could say the same about Foreman...if the wise Ali weren't in his way He may have been on top for years, then maybe never had come back....
Anyway Just My OpinionComment

Listen very carefully: While I love Frank Bruno he was NOT better than any of the 4 I named NOR was he in-prime. Vitali was about as good as Williams (which isn't a knock on Vitali as Williams was FAR better than you're giving him credit for). Tua may have been a little bit better than Valdez. You might want to rely on something other than a quick glance at BoxRec when making claims about fighters you know nothing about such as Valdez. Ocasio was NOT an in-prime Lewis opponent (his prime was at least a decade earlier when he was fighting the likes of Holmes) nor was he better than the four fighters I listed.....Next!

Even if you dont think they were in their primes they were still as good if not better.who did cleveland williams ever beat to be considered as good as vitali? that's right nobody!
tua beat quite a few top heavyweights but valdez lost to all that he aced and he lost to bums too.
**** guys like botha and briggs are far etter than the likes of valdez, lewis fought in a much stronger era than liston.Comment

Who did Vitali beat to be considered better than Williams? That's right: A bunch of class-c fighters who beat up his little sister :hahahaha9:
It's now official: You're utterly ignorant about boxing and it's history. Nobody with ANY knowledge of boxing prior to 1990 rates Botha and Briggs as anything but journeymen and would be so no matter what era they fought in. No amount of BoxRec "special opps" is going to cure you of your lack of any knowledge of boxers prior to your own times.

says the clown who calls Joe Louis, Roy Jones, Thomas Hearns & Floyd Patterson a bunch of Glass-chinned champions.... when the reality is that 3 of the four are rated as the greatest ever in their weight divisions while the forth was one of the youngest and best boxers ever in his division, which goes to show just how knowledgable you are on this sport... pea-brain`
I doubt he ever said that, just looks like your trying to pick arguments as usual.the only one with a pea brain around here is you.And even if he did say that he isnt lying as they were all regarded as having weak chins.Comment

Furthermore while I said their chins weren't that good, I also consider them great fighters. I rate Joe Louis #1 at HW "pea-brain", something you don't.
Honestly it's pretty obvious you're not exactly an intellectual. Don't call people smarter than you "pea-brains" unless you want to be embarrassed. I've been gentle with you up until now. Let's not change things.Comment
