What fighter do you think would be the best street fighter?

My best p4p fighter would be Roberto Duran and Stanley Ketchel.

I think someone like James Toney, Mike Tyson, Jake La Motta. Difficult to think who can also fight as there wouldnt be much boxing in a street fight. A lot of boxers are too "nice" for a street fight, you would want someone a bit mad maybe!

For heavyweights:

Mike Tyson
Prime George Foreman
Sonny Liston
Ike Ibeabuchi
Rid**** Bowe
Ron Lyle
Oliver McCall (when emotionally stable)

But for non heavyweights I always fancied that Steve Collins would be a useful mate to have in the pub.

How could I forget Marciano? The bar brawler who knocked out some hapless Australian who was bad mouthing the USA during WW2 (from memory!).

Of course Dempsey and O'Sullivan were reknowned bar brawlers.

A couple of other useful hands would be Mayorga and Eamonn Magee. I think they'd be quite useful.

Is there any footage of Stanley Ketchel available anywhere? What titles did he hold?

You may well find highlights of the Johnson vs Ketchel fight on You tube. But dont expect too much. The film quality doesn't do Ketchel any justice.....plus the fighters were told to let the fight run its course for theatre sales. Not that it didn't stop Ketchel from getting brave.......and losing several of his teeth for being so!

He was a legendary middleweight champion.

I think Marvin Hagler is the fighter I'd least want to run into in a dark alley. Or even a well-lit alley. Mike Tyson would probably be second just because he's a maniac.

Dempsey would be a handful too.

Dempsey, Hagler or Marciano all were fighters before they were boxers.

I remember a tale where a mugger attempted to.....well 'mug' an old, grey Jack Dempsey. The hapless fool had no idea who he was dealing with and ended up being sparked.

Reminded me of the scene in Tough Guys (with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas).
