Louis hand speed was nearly as fast as Ali and his power nearly as good as Foreman. Difference is he was technically better than both. Frazier gives Louis problems by crowding him the first few rounds and probably puts the Brown Bomber on the seat of his pants. But once Joe finds that range and hurts Frazier its curtains. Nobody finished a fighter off better than Louis, and sooner or later, I think around round 5 or 6, Louis will find his mark.

Louis has a realistic chance of stopping Frazier early.
If Frazier can last the first rounds I tend to favor him to stop Lewis late.

A real tough fight to call this one. I could see two different endings in two different fights.

I personally dont see Louis doing a Foreman on Frazier, I dont rate his power in that sort of league. If he were to stop Frazier I think it would be late rounds, almost a cumulative effect of his accurate and powerful short punches.

But Louis would have the problem of Frazier's workrate getting streadily stronger throughout the fight and Frazier's left hook was so damned accurate, it was very rare to see him swinging and missing with it. I could see Frazier landing the sort of left hook that brutalised Jimmy Ellis fairly early on, Louis wasn't that elusive. I'd wager that sort of punch would land with a heavier impact than any of Max Schmelling's right hands and would put Louis in serious risk of a stoppage loss. That said, Louis seemed more vulnerable to right hands than left hooks (thinking the Schmelling, Baer, Braddock, Walcott fights) and there is a possibility that Louis would beat Frazier to the hook most times with his faster left hand.

I think it would depend on form on the night. Louis was the greater tallent, no doubt but I think this fight would be a real risk for him at any point. If Frazier was to win I'd venture that he might well be behind on points at the time of stoppage from all those accurate combinations, Frazier might even have touched down enroute.

I could ramble all day long on this one and change my mind several times. If they were to fight twice I'll give them each a victory. Frazier by mid to late rounds KO (around round 9) and Louis by fairly close decision having knocked Frazier down enroute but being pushed very hard in the last few rounds.

Long layoff or not, this is probably the easiest type of matchup that you could give Louis. You have the greatest puncher in heavyweight history against a brittle chinned, one dimensional brawler.

Louis knocks him down several times and then leaves him flat on his ack in the fourth or fifth round.

Louis hit much harder than Foreman, and was a better boxer. Louis by early KO.

Louis was certainly a better boxer than Foreman, more accurate, faster and precise. A heavier puncher? No way!!!

Whilst Louis did score one punch knockdowns and KOs, it was in his blistering combinations that he was most damaging.

You only need to watch films to assess whos punches carried the most impact. Its beyond question to anyone with open eyes!

I believe Louis would stop Frazier within' two rounds.

Frazier being a slow starter,Louis would tee off with his combinations and stop Frazier by TKO early.

Yes,if Frazier gets by the early rounds and starts smoking Louis would be in trouble. But I don't see Frazier getting by the early rounds.

Louis was a good puncher but i can't see him putting Frazier away like Foreman did. Bonevena was a notoriously heavy handed fighter who couldn't put Frazier away. Foreman is probably the hardest puncher ever in the game.
