Was he? Ring doesn't rank Shavers in March of 1975. In May, Shavers beat 12-9 Oliver Wright, which I can't believe enhanced his ranking.

Was he perhaps promoted to the top 10 before the September showdown with Lyle by way of default? This could definitely have happened, but I can't piece it together. Do you have the Ring for this month?

How about the G-man? I get tired of hearing about his incredible power when the truth is his best win comes over Jackson, a great puncher himself who had a glass jaw and when beaten was always done by ko. I think people are overestimating him based on the tragedy he suffered instead of looking at what he really accomplished..

According to the Ring Magazine's Annual Ratings,Shavers was rated within the top ten in 1975.I'm not certain that he was rated in the top ten at the exact time that he fought Lyle however.

Shavers was in and out of the top ten through most of the 70's.

i thought he had good power to him, it was enough to make everyone he fought say he was (or one of) the hardest hitters

as for g-man i can't say cause his career ended abruptly. so saying he doesn't have power can be put in the same agurement for those who say he does.

i always thought hatton was a overrated puncher

i think vic darchinyan is overrated as a puncher...but maybe a little underrated as a boxer. he has no business thinking his power is gonna carry up to 118.
