Eventhough practically dwarfed by the much taller and heavier Lennox Lewis, I cannot envision a prime Joe Louis losing this fight. Difference in size can sometimes make a fight easily predictable, but not always. As usual, the respective boxers style of fighting can be of bigger importance. And Joe Louis practically feasted on larger foes. I think he would have loved to fight some of the big men in the modern era. With his great timing, his superior ability to block and parry, and lets not forget to counter, he would have found it easy to connect on Lewis' chin. He was alot faster and hit with both power and explosiveness. This, combined with Louis' accuracy and ability to finish a hurting foe, would spell disaster for Lewis.

Of course, Lewis had that monstrous right hand, and if he connected, he could possibly stop Louis. More often that not I don't see this happening though. A well-prepared prime Joe Louis is not likely to get tagged and stopped by one big shot. It would take alot more work, and Lewis would not be up to the task. Not many would.

He weighed more than 208-210 closer to the end of his career... His average weight was 198-205...

Legendary trainer Lou Duva often refered to Lennox Lewis as "Another Carnera" due to his size and limited ability

This is what sports fans have done since time immemorial. People still discuss whether the 1972 Dolphins where better than the 2007 Patriots. All it takes is a little imagination and the ability to think dynamically instead of statically.

BTW, the Cruiserweight division is a phony weight class that shouldn't be brought up in any serious boxing discussion.

He is always listed as 6'2 and fought over 200 for 75% of his career.

Well, It might be okay to think about the hypothetical fight of Ali vs Tyson, who were fighting some 10-15 years apart... But thinking of the guys who had 5 decades between each other...

I agree that a CW is a weight with no history so far, but Louis fits there weight-wise...

If somebody asks me to turn my imagination on, I can see 200 lbs Louis getting knocked out by 240+lbs Lewis...

That's static thinking. While mathematics and physics work just fine with static formulas human beings do not. Any rational discussion of any field of human endeavor requires dynamic thinking simply because human beings do NOT conform to static formulas. In terms of comparing fighters between different eras you have to account for the differences in era and make adjustments. As in anything where human beings are participating it's more art than science.
