His character alone made him great - an excellent showman. p4p he's not a great but I think it's hard to argue against him being an ATG featherweight.
Yer, i would agree that he's an ATG Featherweight. His record shows that but i was disappointed that he walked away after that loss to Barrera. Great fighters at least try to put things right.

He was the best featherweight of the 1990s. One of, if not the, hardest punchers the division has ever had. Won three versions of the featherweight title (should've been 4, but the WBA stripped Vazquez of his title right before their fight). And has a good resume.

He should be inducted into the hall of fame, pretty soon, as well.
        Nailed it.

His skills were off the scale (despite his ego, which led to his downfall), he carried a bazooka in either hand, he cleaned out the division, he sold tickets by the bucketload and he pretty much single-handedly dragged the lighter weights into the spotlight, the big time and the money.

Great fighter. Such a pity he threw his career away so early.

          Oh and yes - ATG.

Hamed power is overated. he didn't KO anyone worth note. Morales, Barrera, Pacquiao and Marquez could have stopped everyone that he did just as easily.

Hamed is an ATG FW though i suppose, he'd give a lot of guys trouble imo.

I think he'd lose to Morales, Pacquiao, Barrera (he did, and badly) Marquez, sal Sanchez etc..anyone worth note..

Some people have a bizarre way with words. Let's get this straight - losing "badly" is getting starched in the first thirty seconds of a fight to a mediocre opponent (a bit like Khan vs Prescott) .

Being outboxed - but remaining upright for the full 12 rounds - by a HOF fighter is NOT, and never has been, losing "badly".

True Mugwump, it wasn't a whitewash either 116-112 Barrera from memory. Its just that the rounds that Barrera won big were far more impressive than the rounds Hamed shaded. Hamed was caught badly off balance a few times which looked pretty bad.

Barrera never schooled Hamed it was an 8-4 fight which is hardly a one-sided beatdown. Hamed had moments in the fight, the shock at him losing pretty clear though seems to have the fight lodged in people brains like he never landed a shot though. 5 years earlier Hamed beats Barrera hands down. I hate the **** by the way but theres no denying he was shot to **** it was evident in fights leading up to Barrera.
