Out of 45 fights Trinidad fought 6 in New York. Of those 6 he scored 3 stoppages, 1 UD and lost twice. Before he fought Hop he was 3-0(2) in NY. After Hop he was 1-2(1). But his competition level went up and he was past his best weight and prime years. So while the wraps were illegal in 3 of those fights, it really doesn't seem that advantageous. And besides (maybe) those 3 fights, everything else was legal and on the up and up. He did nothing any other fighter wouldn't be allowed to do.
What exactly am I clinging to? The fact that he was caught with illegally-wrapped hands? It's a fact.

Before the Hopkins fight, did you ever think that the hand-wraps had something to do with him being undefeated?

In the Hopkins fight (without the illegally-wrapped hands), Trinidad hit him with some pretty good punches and Hopkins acted as if he hadn't been hit at all. Trinidad was exposed, then and there.

I mean.. come'on, man. Trinidad's father said that his hands were wrapped that way for every fight, before the Hopkins one. Meaning that he had a big and (morally) unfair advantage in power against his opponents. Anyone who defends that has something wrong with them.

I wouldn't even entertain that thought since he only had 3 fights in NY before Hop. Troy Waters, a gimme for a fighter like Trinidad. Pea, who was well past his best, and Joppy who was practically shut out by Hop 2 years later. every other fight he had his hands WERE wrapped legally per say of that boxing commission.

Joppy was never knocked out before and it's a big belief that Trinidad ruined him.

Just because a boxing commission doesn't have it against the rules doesn't mean it has no effect. His hand-wraps increased his power and even Trinidad's father/trainer implied that in an interview.

If you lost to Trinidad by knockout and then learned that his hand-wraps increased his power, would you say that your loss to him was completely legit?

Joppy had lost before that and had never face a fighter the quality of Trinidad.

If it isn't against the rules it isn't illegal. ANY fighter can do this and I would bet many have. I find it a bit humorous you want to hold every fight in Tito's career in contempt.

I also wonder if Joppy faced a fighter with illegally-wrapped hands, before Trinidad.

He had an unfair advantage over his opponents by increasing the power in his punches by a significant amount and you think it's alright? Wow..

I do hold every fight of his in contempt, the same way I hold all of Margarito's. Yes, there's a separate degree of unfairness between them, but their careers both have question marks over them.

By the way, you still didn't answer my last question:

If you were that fighter that lost by knockout, you know that you would say he cheated.

If I were you, I would stop responding. You've dug yourself a hole and showed everyone how biased you are.

Actually I do. His father/trainer put tape first, then gauze, then tape, then gauze, and so on. This increases the power in someone's punches by a significant amount. While it may not sound that serious by it's description, it actually is very serious.

Depending on the type of fighter you are, some like more gauze to protect their knuckles, some like less gauze to hit more bearhanded. You are correct in putting tape first on the knucles, that is illeagal in many states. Trinidad folded an extra set of gauze back and forth on the knucles. There were not wet like Hopkins insinuated. It was more done from the the Hopkins camp to get into Tito's head, Hopkins had gotten to his head already by throwing the PR flag on the floor in PR. Make no mistake Hopkins boxing IQ is high in every angle. They made Trinidad wrap twice

Both De La Fishnets & Tito are overrated.

Hopkins never said that his hands were wet. Just that if they were wet, they would be even harder.
