  • Manny Pacquiao vs. Azumah Nelson @ 130lbs

This would have been an absolutely brilliant and intriguing match up,There were times that Nelson looked unbeatable, the complete package. Speed, defense, movement, ring generalship and absolutely awsome power. Nelson was also a superb counterpuncher in the best period of his career.

How do you see the fight going?

I would lean towards Nelson myself as Marquez gave Manny fits in their two fights,Nelson was probably the strongest feather/super feather physically In my lifetime, and I certainly see him as a better fighter than Marquez. I think the fight would be competitive, extremely brutal, but I think it would go the distance with Manny possibly closing the fight strongly.

i see where your coming from mate and i agree with you to a certian point,i just think at 130 pac used to dive in alot more that what he does now,so with the fitness and power of nelson and pac keep coming foward ill lean towards nelson stopping him but either way what a great fight it would have been

Very even fight IMO, I don't see a strength or stamina advantage either way, Nelson was the better boxer but he had a tendency to throw very very wide shots when exchanging and leaving himself open. At the same time Manny had a tendency to put his head down and just throw when he was exchanging so they both have their own set of defensive liabilities, but I think the difference would be the workrate of Manny, Nelson at times would throw one punch at a time while Manny with Manny, if you were in front of him he would let go with both hands. I could see it going down to whether a judge would favor cleaner punching (Nelson) or a higher landing ratio (Pacquiao) but I think manny would look to make the fight and come forward more. Nelson would keep it competitive with his counters and hold his own in the exchanges but I would favor Pacquiao to get the decision in a close fight. I don't think either of them would be knocked down, either could rock each other if hit just right but both men know how to stay on their feet when hurt and both have excellent recuperative powers.

Marquez at featherweight has incredible skills wise. You are forgetting that Manny walked through Barrera, went to hell and back with Morales and then stomped him out 2 times.

Manny would be to much for Nelson at FW, although he was green Manny was a freaking machine. Nelson isn't on that level. He's good, but he wouldn't beat Manny IMO.

Maybe if it was Sanchez vs Pacquiao, then we would have a debate.

Ain't no debate about that, Sanchez beats Manny's ass at 126, Sanchez might drop a few early rounds, but he would pick Manny apart and take a decision

You sound like you are overrating Sanchez a little bit though. Pacquiao beat the living hell out of a prime Barrera, there is nothing in Sanchez' style that would suggest he would make mince meat out of Pacquiao. He's not overly agressive (Morales) nor is he a wicked counter puncher (Marquez).

His stamina is amazing, his power good, and he can box very well fundamentally.

It would be a good fight though and a Sanchez Ud is very possible.
