Has there ever in boxing history skills been shown like Roy Jones showed against Vinny Pazienza.
if yes - when?
are you kidding, there have been many better than this one, there are to many to write,i would say of the top of my head there are probably over a thousand better and that is not including title fights
I don't think it does Jones justice to put a spotlight on the Pazienza fight. I'm critical of him, his quality of opposition, blah, blah, blah, but that fight was just ******. I'm more critical of Jones to take such a worthless fight against a worthless opponent when he was in my view at the zenith of his abilities. It opened him up to criticism, and justified ones, and started the ball rolling on him falling out of favor with boxing fans.
This guy was insanely talented, and I would isolate his fights with Bryant Brannon or Reggie Johnson. Particularly Brannon. I know BB was overmatched and never really stood a chance, but I have rarely seen fighters do what Jones did in that fight. That performance was far better than against Pazienza, who he hurt with the first punch of the fight and could have finished at any moment but didn't. Boring dominance versus exciting dominace with Brannon. Pazienza was a joke.
