great fighter but often sounds like a pothead

prior best black boxers were charismatic Floyd Bernard and/or articulate Roy Ward

        In order of appearance

        McLarin
        Ross
        Robinson
        Burley
        Gavilan
        Basillio
        Griffith
        Napoles
        Leonard
        (On Hold)

I would bet my money on all these guys first.

        ...........

I just don't know enough about Ted Lewis or Jack Britton to include them on my list. I would just be listing legends.

The same with Barbados Joe Walcott. But it is my intention to school myself about him soon and then feel justifed adding him to my list. I am anticipating a dramatic and exciting career. (On Hold)

Armstrong didn't dominate at WW; lost to Zivic twice and avoided Burley and SRR. Had a more steller, yet less dramatic, LW career.

I think Hearns was better up weight. I may be underating Palmeno as well.

          Burley

Ezzard buff he easy worked Charley

Burley was incredibly self-possessed. Said screw it and retired early because he wasn’t given a shot

nearly every other fighter has to learn the hard way before hanging them up

I won't argue that I am over reaching with Burley, but I expected a challenge on Holman Williams behalf.

When they met Charles was a bigger man on the rise and getting bigger. Burley was an overweight smaller man, on the slide. I don't see those fights as WW goes.

Armstrong never defended his welter title against a black fighter and Cocoa Kid,Burley and Williams were ranked when he was champ, financial considerations may have played a big part in that, but most of his defences were against unranked guys, all but 3 of them in fact and he lost the last one against Zivic
