      - - Marv stayed at 160 for his career that started somewhat slowly with a couple of losses and additionally or perhaps more significantly overlapped with the end of Monzon's run.

Canelo 15 yrs old was beating future champ future champ the 19 yr old Miguel Vasquez and then beat the 21 yr old again.

He made his 18 yr old US debut against Shane Mosely cousin Larry who were trained by Shane's father Jack Mosely, so already he's ahead of Marv and it only gets worse, so given Marv is one of my favs, I'll leave it at that rather than cast more pearls to swine...

I don't know if you can really rate him at 160. He only fought three fights at the 160 lb middleweight limit- two against an over the hill GGG and once against Danny Jacobs. Despite having the MW belt for longer, he enforced lower limit catchweights for a fair amount of his MW bouts. He is 2-0-1 at the weight limit, the one draw the only card in his favor was so egregious that the judge was suspended.

Resume wise his best was his SMW run- I know there are bigger names at other weight classes, but you look at what he was doing there was beating big names who were over the hill. Its almost uncanny how well his career was managed in this light- picking off middle aged HOFers and marinating fighters until they were ripe. Like it or not, GBP did a fabulous job of this.

He is a great fighter, a worthy future HOFer, but he just didn't really fight at MW.

Rank him at MW however you wish. Just make sure GGG is higher up on your list.

                - - Cotto was his first middle title fight and Cotto set the weights since he was champ.

Meanwhile Canelo had fought a series of 155lb fights making $$$ against other big stars while trying to get the l'l floyd rematch at a full 154 vs l'l floydy after he turned blue on the scales at 152 for their first fight.

He's a modern fighter in every sense taking advantage of more weight classes, more titles, and mo'$$$, and on that front he may be tops...

Whatever the reason, Canelo just doesn't have an extensive body of work fighting at 160; he literally only has three fights at the 160 limit. Not saying he isn't a great fighter, he is, he just doesn't have a lot of work at that specific weight.

Marvin got robbed & jerked around at the beginning of his career, which is why he was so bitter for the rest of his career.

Fought Monroe on 2 weeks notice, still probably won the fight & got robbed. He knocked Monroe out 2 other times afterwards

He got robbed against Bobby Watts & then knocked him out in the rematch.

He probably only legitimately lost once his whole career & that was his last match against Leonard & half the public still thinks Hagler won.

Canelo got "favorable" cards in every "close" fight he was ever in, even against Mayweather.

Lara, Trout, & GGG all have arguments for beating him.
